Mission Statement

The Mission of the Building Division is to oversee plan review and permit issuance to assure that proposed construction work meets safety requirement of the code; and that the process be performed in a timely manner with professional and courteous service to our clients. It is also our mission to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by inspecting buildings, structures and sites for compliance with local, state and federal laws regulating and controlling the construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance within the County of Glenn.

The Building Division is a caring part of the County Government that wants a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible county by improving the quality of life for present and future generations. The Building Division is motivated, progressive and visionary. We continually challenge ourselves to improve services by being innovative, collaborative and creative. Out staff is valued and well trained. They use their experience, knowledge and a team approach to provide excellent service with openness, responsiveness, efficiency and accountability.

Upgrade California's Energy Status

The California Energy Commission joined regional efforts to increase energy efficiency and encourage clean jobs with the statewide launch of Energy Upgrade California, the new energy efficiency program. Part of this comprehensive program is the integrated Web Portal, http://www.EnergyUpgradeCA.org which provides easy to use tools and resources to property owners to help them improve their energy and water efficiency, save money and increase building comfort.

Please use the inspection request line number for ALL inspection requests. 530-934-8447

When you call be sure to include the following information:

  • Your building permit number
  • The property owners name
  • The address where the inspection is to be conducted
  • What type of inspection you are requesting
  • The date on which you would like your inspection
  • A telephone number where you can be reached if there are any questions

Building permits issued and plan checks accepted Monday thru Thursday between 8:00am - 4:00pm.

Code Information

Glenn County is currently operating under the 2007 Edition of California Title 24 which consists of the 2007 California Building Code, 2007 California Administrative Code, 2007 California Electrical Code, 2007 California Mechanical Code, 2007 California Plumbing Code, 2007 California Energy Code, 2007 California Fire Code, 2007 California Elevator Safety Construction Code, 2007 California Historical Building Code, 2007 California Existing Building Code and 2007 California Reference Standards Code. The County should update the codes periodically, as required by law, to ensure that the County's standards are contemporary.
